Is it Possible to Prevent Pimples?

If your parents had pimples and your brothers and sisters have pimples, chances are that you are going to have pimples also. You have common genes and genes largely determine your hormone levels. The best way to prevent zits is to go after the root cause of your problem, by using a holistic pimple treatment to “rebalance” your hormones. There are some other steps you can take to help minimize your pimples even if it is impossible to prevent them completely.
The P.acnes bacteria that lives on the surface of your skin infects your blackheads and whiteheads and turns them into pimples. This bacteria is not the cause of acne, but if you eradicate the bacteria, you may be able to prevent pimples from developing.
One of the first things you can do to help prevent pimples is to clean your face properly. The goal is to avoid aggravating your skin and risk spreading infection. I recommend that you clean your skin twice daily with a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil and lukewarm water. Pat your skin dry with a clean, soft cotton towel. That’s all. You should be careful not to overwash which won’t help your acne, but might aggravate your acne.
Non-prescription creams and gels containing 2.5% benzoyl peroxide are a good bet if you have only mild acne. Clinical studies have proven that it is not necessary to use stronger formulations of benzoyl peroxide. In fact, you can irritate your skin if you use stronger and even prescription-strength creams or gels. Spread the product onto the areas that have, or are prone to, whiteheads and blackheads but not to your entire face as benzoyl peroxide irritates skin. Don’t just spot treat. You will be eradicating the P. acnes bacteria, but will that be enough to prevent pimples? Well, probably not, but it may prevent a few blackheads from erupting into zits if you’re lucky. I don’t normally recommend benzoyl peroxide to someone who has more than just mild acne because topical treatments rarely do anything for people with moderate or severe acne.
How to prevent pimples - What else can you do?
Quite smoking. There are tons of good reasons to give up smoking but if you need one, here’s another: smoking is one of the worst things for your skin. While it doesn’t directly cause pimples, it makes your skin less healthy and more susceptible to getting infected. Kick that habit.
Reduce Stress: Stress is linked to pimples because times of stress can cause a surge in androgen hormone levels. So another way of preventing pimples is to learn to manage your stress. Relaxation techniques can help you manage stress at your job before you see it on your face. If it’s exam time… well, take comfort in the knowledge that they will be over soon!
Watch what you eat: Even if doctors are only now coming around to admitting it, there is a connection between diet and pimples. You should keep track of the food you eat and keep a record of your break outs. Does your bad complexion seem to be triggered by something you eat? Milk is a common culprit. By cutting dairy products out of your diet, you might see fewer pimples. Some people have breakouts triggered by hydrogenated oils, nuts and sugar. You might be able to prevent pimples by watchinig what you eat and cutting out your own trigger foods.
Don’t pick or rub your skin! Listen to your mother for a change. Don’t pick, squeeze or pop anything on your face. I know it’s tempting and we all do it, but chances are your acne will be more persistent and spread if you ignore this advice. This includes using those “strips” to clear your blackheads. Any time you irritate your skin, you increase the likelihood that it’s going to get infected. If you don’t want pimples, don’t mess around with your blackheads and whiteheads. Let them go away on their own. Hide them with makeup instead.
What is the best way to prevent pimples? The best way to prevent pimples over the long term, and the only way that I really believe in, is to try one of the holistic acne programs. That’s because acne and pimples are ultimately the result of a hormone problem and not bad washing or bacteria. Hormones. The smartest thing you can do is follow the recommendations of the holistic acne programs to make yourself as healthy as you can be, control your hormones, and clear up acne. I wish you luck with whatever you try, but remember – don’t do anything that aggravates your skin – you’ll just make it worse and you’ll probably cause pimples, not prevent them.
