Improve Your Social Life - Get Rid of Your Pimples

Everyone that has graced our earth long enough to go through his or her teenage years, has reached a time in their life that is known as puberty. Puberty, while different for everyone, is a time in life where the largest hormone changes and sexual growth take place. Common characterstics that occur during this time are the development of pubic hair, voice changes, breast development in females, etc.

One frequent ’side effect’ during puberty is the increased occurance of pimples. Pimples are a commonly occuring lesion on the surface of the skin that are caused by swollen or otherwise blocked pores. Most often a result of acne, they may also be symptomatic of other unrelated conditions such as smallpox or even some bug bites. A ‘pimple’ is just a collection of puss located under the skin. This puss is a concentration of dead white blood cells (and other matter) that results from the body’s own natural battle to ward off this irratation - whether it is acne, a disease or a bug bite.

Noone that I have met likes pimples, mainly because of the negative stigma that most people have about them. This is largely due to the direct affect that pimples have on the way someone looks and many people derive their sense of worth based on their looks. Even though the exact opposite may be true, pimples have the affect of making one appear ‘dirty’.

It isn’t hard to eliminate or reduce a pimple, all it takes is to squeeze on the area surrounding the pimple. This action will cause the small section of the skin where the pimple is located to rupture, allowing the puss trapped inside to come out. This is the most frequently used method, however, it is usually discouraged by dermatologists. It has been proven that in squeezing the pimple you can actually force some of the puss and bacteria to be pushed deeper into the skin. This will, in turn, cause more infection to develop. Often times dirty fingers will also be the cause of prolonged irritation.

Proper treatment includes keeping the areas as clean as possible and keeping any known irritants away from the skin. In many cases, if the source of the irritation is removed, the pimples will clear up soon after. While figuring out what the ‘irritation’ is during many cases of acne is difficult, it is worth trying. Often there are simple solutions that have been found to be very effective.
