How Your Teen Can Cope With Acne Problem

Posted on November 29th, 2009 | by lose_spots |

Most teenagers suffer from pimples as they go through puberty. Because of the increase in hormones during this life changing period, acne can be a big issue. It is often embarrassing and can lead to a drop in self confidence.

The problem can seem out of control and it may be difficult to find a remedy that really works. However, teens who focus on skin care can improve their conditions. While it may be hard to determine the cause of your teens skin issues, there are several reasons that teens are more likely to have problems with acne.

Usually, the reason stems from hormones. Hormone fluctuations are the main cause of pimples and greasy skin. Unlike popular opinion suggests, pimples are not caused by eating greasy food or chocolate. Anyway, your teen’s routines could be playing a part. Teens often don’t drink enough water, which can concentrate the hormonally induced oils and make treatment more difficult. A poor diet can also lead to non-optimal body function and make it more difficult to treat the condition.

As with most issues, prevention is the key. There is no easy cure for acne, but good skin care routine can make a huge difference. Your teen should wash every morning and night with a facial cleanser. Trouble spots can be treated with home remedies for acne scar like toothpaste or calamine lotion. Over the counter acne creams are very effective, but can be more expensive. However, only a small amount is applied and they can be well worth the cost for the relief they offer.

Finally, your teen should avoid picking the problem areas and touching their face excessively. While eating a burger won’t cause the pimple to form, rubbing her cheek with greasy fingers probably will. It can be extremely difficult to navigate through the teen years. Having skin problems can make it embarassing. However, there are effective acne treatments available. Make suggestions to your teen and be willing to keep trying products and remedies until you find the best one for your teen. Treating acne will raise her self esteem and allow her to focus on other parts of life.
