Have Beach Fun and Prevent Beach Damage with Hair Sun Protection

Hair sun protection is frequently overlooked. Most people look forward to summer all year. However, your hair probably does not. The sun-kissed glow is a source of great anticipation, but that warm, sunny look is seriously hard on your hair. Hair with natural, sunny highlights can quickly deteriorate into stiff, dried-out straw if you do not take steps to protect it.
Here are some great tips for effective hair sun protection:
* Be sure to moisturize - Ocean salt and pool chemicals are very destructive when it comes to your hair. The best hair sun protection is to constantly moisturize. Just like your skin, your hair needs moisture to resist damage. Use a leave-in conditioner or spray your hair with a weak combo of your regular conditioner and water each time you exit the pool or ocean.
* Look out for Octyl Methyoxycinnamate - Usually, you will want to avoid complicated chemicals when it comes to your hair. In this case though, octyl methyoxycinnamate indicates serious SPF power. Vitamins A, E and C are also a good defense against free radicals. Free radicals are what highly charged molecules that can harm the cells in your hair and skin are called.
* Be careful and cover up - A physical barrier between your hair and the sun is the most surefire way to get hair sun protection. Tie a scarf over your head or throw on a big floppy beach hat for a glamorous and fully protected look. This is vitally important when the sun is strongest – between 10 AM and 3 PM.
* Do the Right “Do” - Putting your hair up is a great way to protect yourself during unexpected sun exposure. Smooth it back with a quick dollop of sunscreen for a quick and convenient look.
Keep from damaging your locks in the summer by protecting your hair from the sun. Using good hair sun protection habits will help your hair survive until fall.
