Acne treatment is not difficult; you can easily do the things listed below. All it takes is a little bit of discipline. They are listed in no particular order of importance.
1. Vitamin D is a great ingredient for healthy skin and plenty of fresh air and sun in moderation, provides that for you. Your skin will appreciate the vitamin D, but even more than that you body and sense of well being is greatly enhanced through daily outdoor pursuits providing more oxygen to the body and the added benefit of stress relief. Be very careful not to get sunburn, don't overdo it! Remember to use sun protection / tanning lotions if you'll be out long. Stay away from sunburn where possible, otherwise you end up with burned, dead skin cells blocking pores, resulting in another acne scenario.
2. Any kind of stress, good or bad can trigger chemical responses that produce acne. So good preperation and extra planning are needed to deal with the stress when organizing a wedding, graduation, house move, new job, job transfer, a new baby, etc. Journal a little extra, focusing on the upcoming issue or issues and plan in some extra rest (use relaxation or meditation tools - cassettes, workshops, etc.) Get help around the house, take time off, exercise (yoga and Thai Chi are highly recommended), have fun or whatever you need to do.
3. Hydrate your body sufficiently by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Many recommend three to four tall glasses of mineral or filtered water. Dehydration can lead to dead skin cells not naturally falling off or sloughing properly; so make sure you drink plenty of water, otherwise the end result is blocked pores, acne.
4. Acne has nothing to do with dirt. Period. So over washing of your face and body is a definite NO. Bear in mind that too much and you could end up with dry skin. And dry skin means your body will jump in and create more oil. Then what? Too much oil creates extra dead skin cells which equals blocked pores, setting in motion, more acne flare-ups. Same old story.
5. Improve your normal diet by adding more fruits, vegetables and seeds. (Note that deficiencies if selenium and zinc, found in Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds, have been associated with acne.) So add salads, dried fruit and nut snacks, juices and other healthy treats to your daily planning.
So there you have it. Acne treatments that are simple to follow and easy to implement on a daily basis, that will help keep acne at bay.
