Acne Skin Care Products Cost Too Much

Posted on April 29th, 2009 | by lose_spots |

If you want the best acne treatment, the skin care industry often gives the appearance that the more you spend on acne skin care products, the better the result you get. This may not always be the case however, with the reasons being as varied as the available range of acne products themselves.

There are basically three types of acne that sufferers across the board can experience: mild, moderate and severe. Each level of acne has it’s own treatment options. Numerous acne treatments are available and often, the best choice is to consult a dermatologist first instead of relying on product advice from friends. If you have a serious acne problem or your acne has become worse you should consult immediately with a dermatologist as to the nature of your acne problem. There may be a problem with diet for example that exacerbates the issue in which case, this needs to to be remedied before undergoing any treatment with acne skin care products.

Although, if you already have a product that you find works well for you, but are finding it difficult to afford, there are ways to save money on that particular brand.

Helpful Tips For Acne Skin Care Treatment

Mild Acne Treatment

To take care of a mild case of acne you can simply make sure to wash the affected area twise each day with an acne facial wash soap and warm water. Many skin care experts have recommended an application of a cream that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to the most affected areas. These products can often temporarily clear up the bacteria that cause acne on the skin. The results can often be gradual, but any improvement is good. Some dermatologists suggest certain vitamins and changes to diet that can aid in the overall health of your skin and face.

Moderate Acne Problem
Moderate acne is the existence of what are referred to as blackheads or whiteheads which can cover up to half of your facial area. If you have moderate acne make sure you consult with a dermatologist as soon as possible. For moderate acne problems dermatologists will typically prescribe the use of a retinoid or antimicrobial cream. You may find some dermatologists also recommend that you use an oral medication to help your acne treatment. Some experts may also recommend using a topical cream on the skin as well as a treatment like light therapy. Make an appointment to see a dermatologist straight away as moderate acne can become worse and cause permanent damage if not properly treated.

Severe Acne Skin Care Treatment
People with a severe acne problem often have very inflamed pimples that can often resemble a cyst. If you have acne of this nature it can cause a lot of damage to the affected area including permanent scarring of the facial tissue. Hopefully most people with acne problems do not get to this point and have spoken to a dermatologist about their acne before the situation becomes this bad. If acne reaches this point, dermatologists will normally prescribe very aggressive treatments to try and prevent scarring of the facial tissue from occuring.

If you suffer from severe acne you may be given an anti-biotic along with a medication such as Acutane.  You might have to undergo what is known as acne surgery which utilizes drainage techniques. Your dermatologist might also recommend corticosteroid injections. Make sure you consult with a doctor and not simply follow the recommendations of your friends. There are dermatologists available that can provide you with an acne skin care treatment that is appropriate for you.
